Seminar Presentation Details: Dr. Mulubrhan Balehegn is a post-doc research fellow of UN Environment’s International Ecosystem Management Partnership funded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences- President’s International Fellowship Initiative (CAS-PIFI). Dr. Mulubrhan will be presenting his work about Ethiopia’s livestock production system, land degradation challenges and the role of indigenous silvopastoral practices for alleviating land degradation, improving livestock and farmland improvement. The initial parts of his presentation will focus on introducing Mekelle University, one of the pioneer research universities in Ethiopia, its research activities and international research networks. He will then discuss his research, networking and related experiences in the silvopastoral systems, vegetation monitoring and related issues in Ethiopia. Further, he will also indicate links and potential points of collaboration with research projects and scientists at CAS, specifically ongoing and future projects in Ethiopia and other countries across the Sahel Region.
